Created by Carol 13 years ago
Mom was born into a professional middle class family which was also very emotionally stable. My Grandma (Mom's, Mom) was a maverick woman of her time and the family and extended had a lot of strong women in it.The family started Parkfield AFC (web site www.parkfield.co.uk )which in the club history you will find more information on the footballing side of our family in the Birmingham league which is still going today.Life for my Mom was very idylic with family holidays cars members of the Goldisleigh tennis club and all that comes with the trappings of wealth.Mom closest friendsd from childhood were Gene, Glenys and Doreen. Mom her brothers extended family and friends were all private schooled. Mom went To High Clair on the Sutton to Birmingham road.At the beginning of the war Mom moved out to Uttoxeter with family friends. Mom went to bussiness college where she trained in bussiness shorthand and typing.
Mom also served for the last 2-3 years in The wrens during the war, serving on land and was in London at the time of the doodlebug raids, whilst her brothers Eric and Denys served in the R.A.F and Army. Eric as a pilot and Denys on the frontline.
Mom worked mainly in law and insurance all her working life and for a short while for the chief of police in Aden where she was stationed with my Father she met when she was 30.
I was born in 1961 the only child by my parents marriage, though I have two half brothers by my Father first marriage. My Father died in 1981. Mom got on with life as she had been bought up to be independant, her brothers had taught her to drive and Mom had her own bank account at The Midland (today now The H.S.B.C) has it was known then, where Mom Brother worked in management.
Mom helped me to bring up my youngsters by my ex-husband and devoted her life to me and the children emotionally and financially. Mom was a lady strong unique compassionate loving kind woman who did not realize her own strenght. Mom was our rock!
When I finally left my youngsters Dad Mom was still at the back of us, in her 70's then Mom was a tough one having survived what is known as septicemia meningitus when she was 5 and cancer at the age of 71 Mom was all clear from. When I fianlly got rehoused and settled in 2003 and had met David my husband whom Mom adored Mom could breathe sigh of relief as my life was settling. When David and I married in May 2007 Mom always refered to it as her perfect day. Six months later Mom was diagnozed with alzheimers disease. Mom being Mom picked up very quickly once on the medication as we had caught it quickly and we had a packed driven yearn with Mom taking her to all the places Mom wanted to revisit. In June 2009 Mom had a stroke and this escalated the alzheimers turning it into mixed dementia. This is when Mom moved in with us.After a nasty fall last September 2010 Mom broke her hip and after two operations Mom had to go into a nursing home as the operations took what what was left of Mom and she wanted to pass and go back to her Mom Dad brothers friends and family. Mom past away peacefully on the 15th December 2010. Mom passing was not a tragedy. Mom was 85,and ready to go. It is us who are left who mourn. Mom lived life, it was action packed and Mom was fiercely independant and has that had been slowly taken from her with her illness all I can say now is R.I.P Mom. We will love and miss you always.I know today Mom is safe and happy with The Lord and her family. When M om past on the wednesday mornign and I rung Gened her cloisest friend from childhood Gened told me also that Doreen had past the day before Mom. When Mom was a little girl she would go and sulk in her room and wouldn't come out or talk and the door would knock and it would be Doreen (Gene cousin) calling for Mom and grandma would call upstairs Margaret Doreen here and Mom would happily come out of her bedroom and go with Doreen and once more for the last time on this earth Doreen came for Mom and they went together :o )
